Ticketing

Please Have Exact Fare Ready

PBC Goulburn drivers cannot change large notes, so please be sure to have the fare ready in coin or small notes where possible. This will help to reduce boarding delays and help you get to your destination quickly. Fare scales are displayed at the front of the bus.

Children

Children under the age of 4 travel free when accompanied by an adult. Children aged 16 years and over and attending High School or Secondary College are eligible for a concession fare for travel outside school hours upon presentation to the driver of an appropriate photo ID issued by the school or college. If a valid ID is not available, children aged 16 years and over are required to pay the standard adult fare unless travelling to and from school in school hours. Where age may be in doubt, proof of age is the responsibility of the child or an adult fare will be charged.

Concession Fares

Concession fare authority cards must always be shown to the driver or a full fare may be charged. PBC Goulburn accept a variety of transport concession authority cards issued by NSW State Government agencies and the Commonwealth Government through Centrelink. Sorry, we cannot accept Health Care Cards as a transport concession, nor can we accept cards issued for exclusive travel on State Transit buses and ferries in Sydney and Newcastle.

Tertiary students may travel at concession fares upon the presentation to the driver of an appropriate photo ID from the educational institution.

Tickets

Tickets are issued for all fares paid. Please retain tickets until the end of your journey. An inspector may board a bus at any time to check tickets. When boarding the bus always advise the driver of your final destination. Although you may be required to change buses to complete the journey, through ticketing is offered to all passengers. This means that you do not have to pay the "flag fall" component of the fare on the second bus boarded, just so long as you get on the next available service and you have retained your original ticket.

To view the current discount fare schedule applicable to all PBC Goulburn bus services, visit our fares and sections page.

School Travel Passes

These are issued by PBC Goulburn on behalf of Transport for NSW. Application forms may be obtained at your school or at the Company office. Lost or damaged passes can be replaced upon application at the Company office for a fee of $12.00 (including GST).

For students who are not eligible for free travel to and from school, the Company sells weekly school tickets. These are more convenient than paying cash each day and may be purchased from the bus driver.

Most students living in NSW and travelling to and from school are eligible for free travel upon presentation of a NSW Travel Pass. Free travel is available only on school days between the hours indicated on the Travel Pass. For more information, visit our school free travel page.

Regional Excursion Daily (RED) Tickets

What is a Regional Excursion Daily (RED) ticket?

Commences 5 January 2009.

The Regional Excursion Daily (RED) ticket is a new excursion ticket for Pensioners and Seniors in rural and regional areas that allows multiple trips to be taken on the day of purchase on buses within the local service network.

For $2.50, a single RED ticket gives Pensioners or Seniors card holders the freedom to be out and about in the community all day. It’s one of the most affordable ways to:

  • Visit family and friends
  • Go shopping
  • Attend medical appointments
  • Get to a movie
  • Undertake some volunteer work

How do I get a RED ticket?

RED tickets are available to people holding Pensioner Concession cards issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans Affairs, NSW Seniors cards and NSW War Widow/er Concession cards.

If you are a Pensioner or Seniors Card holder just ask the driver of the first bus you board for a RED. You will need to show the driver your concession card.

Once you have your RED ticket, you will need to show your ticket and concession card to the driver of each subsequent service you travel on that day. No further payment is required, except where the subsequent service falls outside those covered by the local RED area.

Things you need to know

  • You will need to produce a valid Concession Card in your name to the bus driver to purchase a RED ticket, and upon request by an authorised transport officer
  • You cannot transfer the ticket to another person
  • You can only use the ticket on valid services up until midnight on the day of purchase
  • You must not erase or alter information on the ticket
  • You cannot use the ticket on other modes of transport or on services in outer metropolitan or metropolitan areas
